After transforming Nike boxes into furniture in his series “The Pattern Is the Pattern”, Seoul, South Korea-based artist Gyuhan Lee is back with a new work: lamps made from McDonald’s bags.
This collection of lamps called ‘Tokyo Edition: McDonald’s Paper Bag Lamp 12-1 2022 and Tokyo Edition: McDonald’s Paper Bag Lamp 12-2 2022’ is made from McDonald’s paper bags, which he obtained from Narita International Airport during his last trip to Tokyo.
The brand’s iconic logo is reinterpreted in the works as a repeating pattern. Replicating the effect of Hanji (traditional Korean paper), the recycled paper bags are applied to a metal frame to create striking geometric shapes that come together to function as a lamp.
Brain Dead and Kerbi Urbanowski meet again in an exclusive collection of lamps.
