The story behind Justine Clenquet punk jewelry

The Parisian brand Justine Clenquet has made us fall under the spell of her jewelry or experimental creations. Let’s talk about its history.

Parisian brand Justine Clenquet has made us all fall under the spell and sparkle of her experimental jewelry or underground-inspired creations, instantly recognizable for their subtle mix of styles and reinterpretations of classic pieces.

This avant-garde jewelry was born in 2010 as the eponymous signature of Justine Clenquet, the creative who decided to enter the world of DIY jewelry while studying at the Duperré art school in Paris. Thus, from creating jewelry for her friends and loved ones, the designer went on to become a reference and to make each of her pieces deeply artistic and personal. She then configured a whole constellation of pieces made with recycled materials, often reused from collections following a policy of proximity, producing everything locally.

Justine has thus subverted all the codes of goldsmithing to captivate her entire community through her punk identity with items handmade in France with materials such as pale gold-plated brass, carats, pearls and crystals. A shimmering imaginary influenced by the cinema of the 80’s and 90’s with which he materializes creations stimulated by underground culture, fanzines and punk.

JEWELRY AND EXPERIMENTAL SILHOUETTES

Her jewelry evolves and transforms: a choker can become a bracelet, while earrings can reconfigure their own format and hang in different ways all over the body.

Beyond its genderless jewelry collections, Clenquet showcases footwear collections that include designs in which it evokes the aesthetics of the 70s and 80s, reinforcing its identity turned into the fervor of the era. One that has been inhabited and revered by brands and retailers such as SSENSE or Opening Ceremony, as well as eternalized through countless campaigns with iconic personalities such as Gabbriette, Petra Collins, Lady Gaga, Charli XCX, Jorja Smith, Bella Hadid, Dua Lipa.
