There is a very special piece that was present in Carrie Bradshaw’s most special day and that now comes back reattempted: her wedding dress.

This is the Vivienne Westwood piece Carrie Bradshaw is wearing again

Carrie Bradshaw wore the same wedding dress 15 years later. The first episode of the second season And Just Like That…, the new Sex and the City saga, has pulled nostalgia and proves that a wedding dress can be reused.

The strapless model with voluminous skirt and topped with a feathered Vivienne Westwood side headpiece became a benchmark in the series and now, 15 years later, Carrie is putting it to new use. The first episode of the second season of And Just Like That… focuses on the preparations for the Met Gala, which is repeated every May 1 at the Metropolitan Museum in New York.

Carrie and Charlotte are not going to miss it, and neither is Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker), one of the new friends of the group (of which Samantha is no longer a part since she lives on the other side of the Atlantic). Carrie trusts in an emerging designer for the fashionista event par excellence of the New York calendar, but due to an unforeseen event she is forced to look for a last-minute alternative to the design she had in mind.

And what is that alternative? Well, her old wedding dress, which she dusts off to give it a new life, also a visual metaphor that she can now look back without regret, move forward and give a new meaning to a garment with many memories attached to it. “And just like that… I gave meaning to the pain” says Carrie’s voice-over as she walks down the stairs of her New York home wearing the same suit she wore in 2008.

It has not been easy to recover this relic for the new season of And Just Like That…, acknowledged actress Sarah Jessica Parker during an interview: “The producers were not sure we could count on it (…) It was in London and digging it up was complicated, going through customs in time and making sure it was the original model, because the color looked different”.

“This wedding dress was first seen in the Vivienne Westwood Gold Label Fall/Winter 2007 collection titled ‘Wake Up Cave Girl’ and was inspired by the diamond cutting technique,” said Brigitte Stepputtis, head of couture at Vivienne Westwood. “Our couture and bespoke bridal collections stay true to Vivienne’s firm belief that femininity should be celebrated.”
