Nathy Peluso and the Desigual design team have co-created a series of garments and accessories that have finally seen the light of day. A launch like this deserved a party like the one held last night at the Eslava Theatre.
The proposal includes dresses, bodysuits, tops and a skirt, modelled directly on the artist’s body. For this reason, the process has been very inspiring for her. “Designing garments thinking that there will be other people who will wear them has inspired me a lot”, she says, while highlighting her desire to “obviously defend a natural pattern and measurements in which everyone can feel good”.
The garments are sustainable and are made with stretch fabrics. The two midi dresses that simulate denim texture – in washed grey and off-white – stand out, whose vertigo zips are finished off with a piercing detail. The other two dresses in the collection are diametrically opposed: one is short, black and has a multi-position hood; the other is long and electric blue, with a white belt.
As for the bodysuits, there is a red one with a multi-position hood and a white one with a draped neckline. The collection is completed with a denim-effect skirt with a practical belt and two strapless tops. As an accessory, the collection includes a vintage-style denim cap with worn details, piercings and buttons. Nathy Peluso has personally customised each of these pieces, using sprays and markers.
During the development of the collection, Nathy Peluso and the Desigual design team exchanged ideas and inspirations. For the artist, her references in the history of fashion and art include names such as Malevich or Azzedine Alaïa, Jean Paul Gaultier or Mondrian, and contrasting aesthetics such as the maximalism of the 80s and the minimalism of the 90s.
I have never thought of creating something to fit into or fit into some canon,” says Peluso, “I have always thought of creating precisely to find new ways of understanding things and new ways of understanding our reality,” explains Nathy. “Being passionate, being genuine is what makes it easier for people to identify with you because that’s what we all need: to see ourselves reflected in someone and not feel alone.
For the grand presentation of Nathy Peluso’s first collection as a Desigual designer, an unforgettable event took place at the Eslava Theatre. The garments of this limited edition capsule were shown exclusively to a select audience through a fashion show. The show ended with Nathy herself appearing on stage wearing the collection’s star piece and flowing with the music. The party, attended by the creative community of Madrid and Barcelona, ended with a DJ set by Toccororo and catering by Vicio.
Nathy Peluso’s first collection as a designer for Desigual is already available in some of the shops and on desigual.com.
The most sought-after bodysuit for the festive season is from Desigual.
