TikTok introduces the ‘Add to Music App’ feature, allowing users to save songs from the platform directly to music apps such as Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music.
The platform has emphasised its role in discovering new music for users. This is due to the continuous creation of viral trends that drive users to listen to such songs. In this regard, TikTok has introduced a new feature to help users store the songs they discover on the social network directly in their account on the music streaming apps.
The ‘Add to Music App’ feature allows users to “easily” save songs they discover on TikTok to their music app and enjoy them directly from, for example, Spotify. Users will have to click on the ‘Add song’ icon next to the name of the song in the post or via an artist’s sound details page.
After that, they can choose which music streaming service they want to save the song to, choosing between Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music. It should be noted that you can choose music apps that have already been installed on your smartphone.
The service chosen the first time will be set as the default platform for saving music from TikTok. In this way, songs will be saved to this service automatically when this function is used. However, the default music app can be changed “at any time”.
Songs stored from TikTok will be stored by default in Spotify’s ‘Songs you like’ playlist. Amazon Music will store such music in a TikTok playlist of songs.
In addition, users will also be able to add the songs to other playlists already in their music service account, or create a new playlist into which to enter the music from TikTok. This new feature “creates a direct link” between discovering music on TikTok and consuming music streaming services.
