Swedish film director Ruben Östlund ridicules the privileged classes and the cult of money and beauty in a film that will compete for the Oscar for best film, direction and original screenplay: Triangle of Sadness.
With his non-conformist and sharp gaze, the Swedish Ruben Östlund has become one of the enfants terribles of the contemporary auteur scene. On this occasion, the film Triangle of Sadness reveals the class inequality on which the capitalist system is based.
Triangle of Sadness’ has as its first protagonists a couple of models: Carl (Harris Dickinson) and Yaya (Charlbi Dean). The superficiality of this duo leads us to a luxurious setting, a cruise ship where we participate in the usual performances of the most privileged.
This film begins with a presentation of these characters who maintain a bond based on interest; the second part is already on the ship where the duo becomes less relevant because we are introduced to new protagonists and new themes and in the third part we are delighted with the class struggle.
This film is not yet streaming, either free or for rental, for the simple reason that it is already in cinemas and will be re-released in February. It will be available on platforms in April, after the Oscars.
