They had it difficult, very difficult, not to say almost impossible, but the designer duo Serhat Isik and Benjamin Alexander Huseby managed to do it. What? To bring the Italian brand Trussardi out of stagnation and almost into oblivion, and not only that, but to put the brand back on the fashion map and radar.
Both are considered to be two of the designers of the moment and one of today’s star duos, and if they have already demonstrated this season after season with their brand GMBH, this argument has been reaffirmed once again after their debut at Milan Fashion Week (MFW) as creative directors of Trussardi.
Their proposal was simply brilliant and completely different (fortunately) to what we have seen in other seasons of the brand. This collection was made up of 40 looks in which one of Serhat and Benjamin’s favourite colours, black, clearly predominated, except for a few looks in which mustard, white or stone grey appeared. We were able to see some of the duo’s clear hallmarks, such as the raver/techno aesthetic, short jackets, coats with prominent and accentuated shoulder pads and long lengths, and hoods. What caught our eye? Their opening look, obviously, their puffer jacket as a mini-dress with corset included, their trousers with square-shaped overlapping pockets and, of course, their XL metallic boots in camel.
Many of the fashion critics have named the Trussardi show as the show with a capital letter of the Italian fashion week and after seeing it we think we will join them too. Bravo Serhat and Benjamin!
