The Peaky Blinders universe is expanding. Series creator Steven Knight has confirmed the development of two new shows set within the Shelby world. Both will arrive after the release of the upcoming Peaky Blinders film —currently in post-production— and will be produced in partnership with Netflix and the BBC.
Each new instalment will feature six one-hour episodes, written by Knight himself. The story will take place in Birmingham in 1953, a city rebuilding itself after the devastation of the Second World War. The plot will focus on the battle for control of the city’s reconstruction project — fertile ground for ambition, violence, and the shifting power dynamics that define the post-war era.
Among those involved in the project is Cillian Murphy, returning as executive producer. He will work alongside Karen Wilson and Martin Haines (Kudos), Jamie Glazebrook (Garrison Drama), Jo McClellan (BBC), and Mona Qureshi and Toby Bentley for Netflix. It is a natural next step for Murphy, who also leads the cast of the forthcoming film that bridges the original series and this new chapter.
The feature has no confirmed release date yet. It will reunite several familiar faces from the Peaky Blinders universe, including Stephen Graham, Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee, and Ian Peck. New cast members include Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, Jay Lycurgo, and Barry Keoghan.
More than a decade after its debut, Peaky Blinders remains a cultural phenomenon. It is a story of ambition, power, and style that has shaped contemporary aesthetics as much as its own enduring myth. As Birmingham rises once again from smoke and concrete, the Shelby empire clearly still has more to say.
