Upcoming Instagram update will allow sharing short messages with friends

This is Notes, the new function that Instagram will incorporate after its next update and which will allow you to share short messages and see what other friends and contacts are doing.

Notes are short messages of up to 60 characters using only text and emojis. To leave a note, you must access your inbox, select the followers you also follow or the people who are part of your best friends and your note will appear at the top of your inbox for 24 hours.  Replies to notes will be sent to you as DMs.

During initial testing, the Instagram team realised that users craved a quick and easy way to share what’s on their minds or start conversations. From asking for recommendations to sharing what they’re doing, the platform‘s new feature will allow users to express themselves and connect in a more direct way with others.
