Versace FW19 > Luxury and grunge alliance

Once again Donatella Versace bets on a revival of the icons of the 90’s, if it worked last year why not repeat?

Versace FW19 is an alliance between luxury and grunge that includes leather, synthetic leathers and torn sweaters, as well as many of the distinctive brooches of the Italian luxury brand.

The fourth day of the Milan Women’s Fashion Week closed with the long-awaited show by Donatella Versace, who presented the FW19 collection. As is the tradition at Versace, the most important Top Models on the planet toured the catwalk: Bella and Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Kaia Gerber, Vittoria Ceretti, Irina Shayk and Mariacarla Boscono.

Over the last few seasons, Donatella has returned some of the brand’s emblematic faces to the catwalk. Among them, there was Shalom Harlow who paraded in SS19, and along with other great OG – which this time were not – such as Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell or Cindy Crawford, who gathered for SS18 on the 20th anniversary of the death of its founder Gianni. This time, it was Stephanie Seymour who made her appearance, closing the show with a long black dress.

Once again Donatella chose to incorporate archival objects such as: corsets, pendants, colours and all those symbols that have made the house great. It was the 1990s, again, that inspired the collection, with a groovy and even sadomasochistic taste in its details.

The proposal was dominated by the black and gold of the giant brooch with the face of Medusa – very present in accessories -, which illuminated the garments of the collection. Variety in the fabrics, earthy and textured but also brilliant, with acid colours illuminated by silk and nylon.

There are many subjects in this FW19, makeup, color layers and a variety of accessories, especially handbags – the V – and hair clips. The general feeling is a celebration of contrast and color in the purest VERSACE style.
