The winner of the LVMH Prize Grace Wales Bonner with her eponymous brand, Wales Bonner, was one of the most awaited of the last edition of the Paris Fashion Week, although in the end she was unable to present her autumn/winter 22 collection in the French capital. But don’t panic because her collection “Togetherness” is already here.
Inspired by American jazz trumpeter Don Cherry and his wife, artist Moki Cherry, and predominantly eclectic, Grace has presented a collection full of handcrafted knitwear, crochet, magical eveningwear, peacock-inspired menswear and technical sportswear, all with a very palpable sense of relaxation.
Another thing the designer has spent time doing is a deep exploration of her culture and infusing it with the concepts of traditional luxury and part of this collection has been made from hand-woven cotton in Burkina Faso, West Africa and combined with the “Gazelle” sneakers (in retro tones and with a new deconstructed aesthetic) in collaboration with Adidas Originals and with jewel applications and a new “Mary-Janes” style model, some of them with bright brocades and in clean colours.
If you haven’t yet had time to watch the video presentation of Wales Bonner‘s autumn/winter collection, do it now.
