After Twitter incorporated fleets —which in case you haven’t heard yet, are publications that disappear after 24 hours—, rumors about a new update jumped out. We still don’t know when it will arrive, but the social network team is already assessing the possibility of incorporating a “Dislike” button in the application.
Every year there is speculation about this controversial feature, but it seems that this time the Twitter staff is serious. For some time now, users have been asking to be able to react negatively to a post, in case there wasn’t enough tension on the platform. Now it seems that this wish is closer to being fulfilled thanks to the information revealed by Kayvon Beykpour (@kayvz) a few days ago.
#1, 2 and 4 are literally our top priority (making the public conversation on Twitter) and has been for years. We’ve made a lot of progress but still lots to do. We do feel it’s important to solve other problems too! As for #3, this is something we’re exploring.

The Twitter product manager replied to a user who expressed her dissagreement with the arrival of fleets. “Instead of developing features, how about focusing on the following real issues?”, she tweeted. Among the problems to be solved, she proposed fighting misinformation or reducing harassment, but also incorporating a “Dislike” button.
“It’s something we’re exploring,” Beykpour replied, referring to the negative reaction. The answer is good news for the haters, because after so much time there is hope that this update will finally happen. At the moment, there is still no date to enjoy —or not— this feature, but the controversy is served:
If Twitter really comes out with a dislike button I WILL cry if any one of you bitches dislikes my art posts. My art is good and I will fight you even if I’m crying lol

I don't want Twitter to add a dislike button. I like this site's atmosphere of positivity and support.
