Zara launches its first collection with multifibre recycled fabrics

Zara launches its first collection created by recycling fabrics that mix polyester and cotton. This project has been developed in collaboration with the textile recycling company Circ.

This initiative aims to respond to one of the biggest challenges facing the fashion industry: the separation of polyester and cotton fibres to facilitate the recycling of garments. With this, Zara and Circ aim to “develop new recycled raw materials for the manufacture of new garments”.

By using Circ’s technology, Zara has developed a collection with lyocell garments, in which 50% of the fibre comes from polycotton waste, as well as polyester garments with 43% of this fibre coming from textile waste. The result of the capsule is fluid and light garments in burgundy.

“This collection is the best example of the fact that innovation, research, new fibres and collaboration with experts are two fundamental pillars to continue advancing in circularity”, says Inditex’s sustainability director, Javier Losada. “At Zara and at Inditex we want to lead the transformation of our sector by creating fashion proposals based on circularity”.

Zara continues to raise the bar by connecting with Wallpaper and craftswomen from Galicia.
