Gucci presents a new campaign starring Oscar-winning actress and producer Jessica Chastain for its fine jewellery collection. The series of promotional images and still lifes, as well as the exclusive video – immersed in an evocative and timeless aesthetic – evoke the narrative behind the extraordinary new Hortus Deliciarum pieces.

Inspired by the long journeys of artists, scholars and thinkers over two centuries ago in search of knowledge and beauty, Gucci unveils places of wonder for a new era. It is a creative ode by Alessandro Michele to historical and architectural epochs suspended in time and space. This journey, inspired by the Grand Tour, reveals masterfully crafted romantic and opulent jewels.

In the campaign, Chastain plays an eccentric and elegant character: an eclectic collector of fashion, art and experiences. The Hortus Deliciarum jewellery she wears represents the memories the character has treasured throughout her experiences and travels.

The intense and beautifully cinematic video reveals a series of scenes where the décor of each room represents a new phase in the rich personal history of Chastain’s character. With photography by Mert & Marcus under the artistic direction of Ezra Petronio, the video and accompanying images have an intimate, voyeuristic quality, in a combination of close-up portraits and more general atmospheric sequences that hint at the unpredictability of the character and the opulence of her home.

 

Balancing an artistic, psychedelic elegance with provocative contemporary touches, the campaign deftly blends past, present and future. Timeless and boldly modern at the same time, it is undoubtedly an extraordinary celebration of the new Hortus Deliciarum fine jewellery collection.
