PALOMO presented yesterday his thirteenth collection, CÓRDOBA AW21-22 at the Paseo del Prado in Madrid; recently declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. He was accompanied by the Municipal Symphonic Band of Madrid and the pianist soloist María Dolores Gaitán live.

Personalities such as Mr. José Luis Martínez-Almeida, Mayor of Madrid; the Councillor Delegate of the Department of Culture of the Madrid City Council, Ms. Andrea Levy; and cultural and social personalities such as Rocío Carrasco, Paco León, Boris Izaguirre, Raquel Sánchez Silva, María Escoté, Jedet or the participants of the Drag Race Spain; Carmen Farala, Inti, Sagittaria, Hugáceo Crujiente have been witnesses of exception of the most emotional fashion show of the firm, which has moved its roots, imaginary and its hometown, Córdoba, to the centre of the Spanish capital.

“With this parade, I feel proud to bring the city of Cordoba to the centre of Madrid, to the Paseo del Prado; a unique enclave that has recently been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. I feel very fortunate for this, and I am enormously grateful to the Madrid City Council’s Department of Culture, Tourism and Sport and to Andrea Levy for making it possible for this cultural activity to take place in such an exceptional setting, in this iconic location that is so representative of the city”, said Alejandro G. Palomo, the brand‘s creative director, after the fashion show.

PALOMO returns to study the context and the cultural background with which his firm was conceived, recognising once again the value of Madrid, the city that hosted his first fashion show, as an inexhaustible source of inspiration in an environment whose history has shaped the identity that has taken his surname “Spain” so far.

With the intention and the greatest enthusiasm to share these values and creative elements with his audience, Palomo proposes a new level of understanding by internalising his hometown, Cordoba, as a melting pot of cultures in which Roman, Arab, Jewish and Christian cultures come together.

The collection works with technical materials and natural fabrics such as wool, silk, cotton poplin, embroidery and lace. Palomo once again includes crochet, which has become a classic of the brand. In addition, wool, fringes, crystal-embroidered drapes and more technical fabrics such as lycras, taffetas and metallic paper.

The Municipal Symphonic Band of Madrid provided the live soundtrack for the parade, together with the Cordovan pianist María Dolores Gaitán, performed the musical piece “Palomo Spain”, created especially for the occasion and conducted by Valter Sivilotti.

Make Up For Ever, led by international make-up artist Karin Westerlund and Sebastian Professional with Lourdes Marroquí in charge of hair styling, collaborated on the catwalk make-up.
