2022 has been another big year for hip-hop. The genre continues to host artists who are creating new sounds. From HIGHXTAR. we tell you what the best hip-hop albums of this year have been.

This year saw the return of Kung-Fu Kenny after a five-year hiatus with Mr Morale and The Big Steppers, and classics Black Thought and Nas returned with standout projects. 2022 was also a big year for both women and queer artists, even though the genre has historically been male-dominated and, at times, exclusionary. Lil Nas X returned with “Late To Da Party”, while young up-and-comer GloRilla marked a before and after with “FNF”. Also, Little Simz, winner of the 2022 Mercury Prize with No Thank You, has made history in the scene.
