Vault by Vans joins forces with Bianca Chandôn with the common desire to explore the referential meaning behind the stars. Thus, we discover the way we become accustomed to their five-pointed shape from childhood; the meaning they take on as we enter adulthood or the influence they have beyond the beauty we see in the vast sky. This exploration of thought is translated into a four-piece Vault by Vans footwear collection.
Founded in 2014 by Alex Olson, Bianca Chandôn blends the worlds of fashion and skateboarding with designs that draw inspiration from 70s counterculture; 80s clubbing and 90s antipodean to create covetable garments and items. Each piece explores areas of culture that seem to be forgotten, dismissed or simply not thought about.
The Vault by Vans x Bianca Chandôn collection is based on the star shape and how we are so familiar with that shape throughout our lives within mainstream media. By combining the star concept with inspiration from the iconic Checkerboard Vault by Vans print series, these stars aim to create something familiar to the wearer and something completely different at the same time.
The four-piece footwear range includes the Sk8-Hi Reissue VLT LX; the Old Skool VLT LX; the Authentic VLT LX and the Classic Slip-On VLT LX. Each silhouette features a premium cotton canvas upper; which has been stretched to add a worn-in feel and finish to each model. The five-pointed star graphic has been applied to a pattern that repeats across the entire surface; similar but different to Vans’ Checkerboard print. Each pair is finished with Bianca Chandôn branding, which appears to be handwritten in blue ink on the heel of each shoe.
All models of the Vault by Vans x Bianca Chandôn collection will be available from 20 August in the physical shops of both brands. On vans.com you will be able to find them from the 23rd.
