Yohji Yamamoto has dived into adidas archive pieces to reinvent trefoil’s icons by adding his hallmark.
The garments combine the graphic with the phrase “Love, Yohji Yamamoto” in signature type calligraphy and the three stripes characteristic of adidas. This is a two-tone collection in black and white, with classic structures and timeless patterns with cuts typical of Japanese fashion.
For the SS19 collection, the collaboration between the two brands has opted to reimagine the brand’s top icons, such as the legendary adidas Superstar from the 1980s or the California Tee, as well as a series of clothing and accessories such as socks or tote bags made of fabric. The effortless and elegant touch is evident in every seam and design.
Y-3, the union between Yohji Yamamoto and adidas, has resulted in a really eye-catching mix, as the designer has imbued himself with the essence of adidas without renouncing his formal and avant-garde aesthetics. The new collection ‘Yohji Love’ shows the perfect connection between both, innovation and the future of sportswear.
Yohji Love’ will be available on the official Y-3 website and in selected stores from 11 April.
