This season, Balenciaga has collaborated with Parisian DJ collective Acid Arab. As well as launching a collaborative playlist, the pair presented a limited-edition capsule collection perfect for a rave.
Balenciaga’s line, which contains fluorescent green clothing and accessories, is unisex and features Arabic script in Arabic and Roman alphabet on the garments. The launch includes an oversized zip-up hoodie, a sweatshirt, a long-sleeved T-shirt and sweatpants, all dipped in a vibrant fluorescent hue.
The campaign photographed by Éamonn Freel perfectly reflects the vibrant energy of the pieces and the rave aesthetic that characterises both the fashion brand and the DJ group. The intention of this creative group is to “create a space for Arab culture in the world of contemporary electronica, mixing Western electronica with Arab and Middle Eastern voices”.
As part of the collaboration, Balenciaga and Acid Arab have put together a playlist curated by the Parisian collective. The set of musical tracks invokes the spirit of this collaboration and the essence of Demna Gvasalia, the fashion label’s creative director who has generated an obsession among trendsetters with his latest collections.
