080 Barcelona Fashion puts the finishing touch to its 30th edition which, after four digital editions, returned with more strength than ever to the on-site format. All this in a dream location: the Recinte Modernista Sant Pau in Barcelona.
The Catalan fashion week is one of the most important events on the national calendar in which there is a commitment to inclusion, sustainability and a responsible and circular industry.
Bringing together fashion, art and architecture, 080 Barcelona Fashion joins all kinds of multidisciplinary artists who contribute to the enrichment of the sector. To this end, and divided into four days, this edition has counted with the participation of 23 designers with exponential talent: Escorpion, All That She Loves, Tíscar Espadas, Lola Casademunt by Maite, Amlul, Is Coming, Larhha, Simorra, Eñaut, Txell Miras, Dominnico, Guillermina Baeza, Lebor Gabala, Martín Across, The Label Edition, Custo Barcelona, Avellaneda, 080 Reborn, Eiko Ai, Habey Club, Reveligion, Yolancris and Menchen Tomas.
LR3 Experience
Celebrating the return to being in person, it is worth mentioning the LR3 Experience, a project that changes the rules of the fashion game. Initiated by the LR3 Louis Rubi brand, it is a new concept that completely changes the vision and way of understanding fashion shows, bringing together technology, art and fashion. An ode to non-archetypical beauty, its essence is based on the elimination of all restrictions and prejudices related to beauty. This is how the new collection was born, inspired by the play of colour, volumes, proportions and movement. The contrast generated by the materials used in the pieces such as cotton, velvet, sequins, silks or denim and also the prints with all kinds of graphic motifs stand out.
More than twenty professional artists from different disciplines, including 3D programming, virtual reality, artificial intelligence and graphic arts, for example, took part in the project.
080 Reborn
Another of the great novelties of this edition is the Reborn Fashion Show, a project in the form of a parade of second-hand clothes promoted by the Agència de Residus de Catalunya, the Consorci de Comerç, Artesania i Moda (CCAM) and the Girbau Lab collaborative innovation space.
080 Reborn arose from the need to raise awareness of the importance of increasing the durability of clothing and reducing the ecological footprint left by mass production. Thus, the stylists Fermin+Gilles have used second-hand pieces from second-hand shops such as Flamingos Vintage Kilo, Humana, Solidança or Las Pepitas, among others.
Finally, 080 Barcelona Fashion has organised a series of parallel activities focused on sustainability. This is the case of Textmeeting by Texfor 2022, an initiative organised by the Conferderació de la Indústria Tèxtil (Texfor) whose main objective is to explore the industry’s future challenges in terms of waste reduction and the search for new production systems that are much more responsible and respectful of the environment.
In this edition, the event has the support of 6 sponsors and 6 collaborating firms. The sponsors are Kevin Murphy (official hairdresser), MAC Cosmetics, Nobu Hotel Barcelona, Polestar, Cointreau and Segura Viudas. As far as the collaborators are concerned, the firms participating in this year’s edition are: Thuya Professional Line, Rowenta, Garmin, La Roca Village, Natur All and Girbau LAB.
And that’s how 080 Barcelona Fashion 2022 closes the show: in style and with our sights set on the next edition.
