We always thought that shampooing was just a matter of applying shampoo and conditioner, but we were wrong. Here are the keys to beautiful, shiny, soft and silky hair.
Choose a product according to your hair type
It’s important to know your hair type before choosing a shampoo, mask, conditioner, serum… For example, if you have fine hair, you should avoid shampoos that weigh it down and weigh it down. Do you have oily hair? Then you should opt for a purifying shampoo that regulates excess sebum. A product for curly hair will not be the same as one for straight hair; nor will it be the same if your hair is dry, damaged, greasy, long, short…
Washing your hair
Keep in mind that very greasy hair can be washed every day without any problem, while dry hair can wait two or three days. If you don’t wash your hair every day, a scalp that produces a lot of oil can become accustomed to producing less. In these cases, leaving an extra day may be a good idea. We should not wait any longer, as excess oil can affect the hair.
Brush hair before washing
It is best to brush your hair before washing it, so that it is less damaged. It is also common to start combing your hair from the root area, which is a mistake. Start at the mid-lengths and ends and gradually work your way up to avoid breakage.
Use just the right amount of product
It is recommended to brush the hair before washing to detangle it and also to wet the hair with plenty of lukewarm water before applying the shampoo. Don’t overdo it with the amount of shampoo: it’s better to work the exact amount. Sometimes we make the mistake of thinking that if we use more shampoo, for example, we will have softer hair, but we do not.
Do not apply shampoo directly to the hair
Don’t apply the shampoo directly to the hair, just drop a small amount in the palm of your hand, rub until emulsified and apply it to the scalp. Work the shampoo into the roots, massaging the product in for at least three minutes. Repeat the application twice: the first time as a cleansing gesture and the second time as a massage. Let the rest of the hair be cleansed with the foam that falls through the mid-lengths and ends.
Wash hair with lukewarm water
Rinse hair with plenty of lukewarm water and finish with cold water for extra shine. Be aware that very hot water damages the hair cuticle.
Do not rub the hair with a towel
It is best to wrap your hair in a towel to absorb excess moisture gradually. Rubbing the towel directly on the hair can cause tangled hair and split ends.
Do not abuse heat tools
Try not to use hairdryers, curling irons, straighteners, etc. on a daily basis and, if this cannot be avoided, always use a heat protector.
Do not go out with wet hair
Hair exposed to low temperatures absorbs humidity, causing the hair fibres to break. Wind tangles the hair and fills it with knots. To avoid this, you can tie your hair into a ponytail.
Not exfoliating hair
We don’t just exfoliate face and body, the scalp needs it too. Just one hair exfoliation a week will remove dead cells, excess sebum, dandruff and product residue. Apply the hair scrub and massage into damp hair, then rinse with plenty of water, wash and condition from mid-lengths to ends.
The mask trick
Spreading the mask 20 minutes before shampooing and rinsing thoroughly will boost its results and leave hair shinier.
