Collina Strada presents a collection that once again liberates fashion through parody, focusing on the reality shows of the 00s and their eccentric styles.
The New York brand thus projects a turn-of-the-century reality show called “The Collinas“, which follows Tommy Dorfman, “a lovingly absent valley girl, as she interns at Collina Strada’s headquarters”. There, she tours the brand’s offices, taking selfies with the models and repeating “I’m like, so good at steaming”.
In this nostalgic episode, Dorfman is shamed for eating a pastrami sandwich for lunch and using a disposable coffee cup by a cast of NY girls, including Aaron Philip, Chloe Wise, Liana Satenstein, Jazzelle Zanaughtti and Marni designer Francesco Risso.
The designer’s experimental approach is once again at work in this collection, in which a myriad of garments, materials, and prints are rhythmically combined. Tiny pleated skirts are superimposed over low-slung cargo trousers or studded belts over-dyed harem trousers.
Also part of this playful imaginary is velvet jumpsuits, floral prints or dresses with scarves underneath baby T-shirts, forming a constellation of pieces that explore color and anti-fashion in the same revolutionary concept.
