The North of England has always been a reference for Raf Simons, with stylistic and cultural references appearing regularly in the collections of his eponymous line.
From the work of Peter Saville to the music and style of New Order and Joy Division. Identity and community have always been at the heart of Raf Simons‘ inspirations.
Inspired by what happens when fashion, music and multiculturalism coincide with the soul scene, the Belgian designer takes his inspiration from the north of England, reinterpreting Fred Perry pieces infused with the sensibility for which he is known.
Constructed in a predominantly black colour palette, the key pieces are decorated with patches that reference soul music vinyl labels. They include touches of pink, blue and white patch stitching and embroidery created from the imagery of record labels, artists and lyrics created especially for this collection.
In addition to reinterpreting the polo shirt – an iconic Fred Perry piece – as well as oversize T-shirts and sweatshirts, the brand presents in this collaboration a denim jacket and trousers set, made of twill.
The outerwear takes centre stage, with the iconic Harrington Jacket in cotton being the standout piece. It features a cotton gabardine outer shell and is designed in a boxy cut, with a graphic patch printed on the left chest.
Also included are exclusive pieces such as the unlined blazer with three-button closure, waist pockets and a printed patch on the chest, and the parka that retains all the details of another of the brand’s icons. A collector’s piece without a doubt.
