In 2004, Pharrell Williams made fashion history with his collaboration with Nigo and Louis Vuitton, which at the time had Marc Jacobs as Creative Director, by launching the iconic Millionaire, a pair of aviator-rimmed glasses adorned with Louis Vuitton’s most distinctive features.
The glasses are reinforced with antique gold metallic bands on the top, with a serial print that reproduces the Louis Vuitton Monogram symbols. Evoking the house’s savoir-faire, the enamelled hinges with the Maison’s signature S-Lock give them a vintage touch.
The Millionaire glasses were Pharrell Williams’ first design for the Maison, and their launch was greeted with enthusiasm in the ever-intertwined worlds of music and fashion. Two decades later, Williams found himself at the pinnacle of the men’s ready-to-wear and accessories line, thanks in part to this pair of glasses.
To recognise this achievement, the line is being relaunched and revitalised under the direction of Pharrell Williams, this time with two different frames: one that faithfully reinterprets the original (the 1.0) and another carbon fibre model with sleek silver hinges engraved with the initials LV and metal bands with Damier motifs on top (the 3.0).
The Louis Vuitton Millionaire 1.0 glasses are available in two shades: one with a tortoise print and chocolate colour, turquoise blue hinge and gold details, and the other plain black with old gold details. They will be available in Louis Vuitton shops and online from 4 July.
The Louis Vuitton Millionaire 3.0 glasses are made in Italy from flexible, ultra-strong and lightweight carbon fibre, very common in the automotive industry. They also come in two versions: one in black with orange lenses inspired by chromotherapy and the other plain black. They will be available in Louis Vuitton shops and online from 8 August.
