Through an official statement backed by their fans, PornHub addresses Meta directly with a simple question: Why can Kim Kardashian upload pictures of butts to Instagram and they can’t?

Instagram continues to penalise sex workers even when they meet the required standards. Kira Noir, a porn actress, takes a stand for PornHub and denounces that the platform continues to remove content deemed inappropriate, but on the basis of a censorship policy that is “quite shaky” and not at all objective.

“I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on PG-rated photo shoots, only to upload my work and have Instagram delete it in 30 seconds. When I ask for a review – because I know my work doesn’t violate the guidelines – I get a ‘sorry’ message and my work can go back up. Only, then, my analytics are fucked because it’s been an hour and I’ve only got three likes. That’s because Instagram hasn’t let people see my work,” says Noir.

However, some public figures and celebrities do not have the same problem. Kim Kardashian is a clear example of this. It’s not that Instagram and the community allow it, it’s that they even praise it.

“The safe-for-work Pornhub account has been disabled for three weeks. In the interim, Kim Kardashian has posted her butt fully exposed to her 330 million followers without any restrictive action from Instagram. We’re glad to see that Kim and the artistic team behind the image are free to share their work on the platform, but we wonder why we’re being denied the same treatment. While her photo continues to garner likes and make headlines, those of us in the adult community are at risk of being displaced if Instagram decides our trousers are too tight to meet their arbitrary and selective ‘standards’,” the company denounced in an official statement.
