Bad Gyal’s ‘LA JOIA’ is out (finally)

The long-awaited debut album has finally seen the light of day after almost a year of waiting.

And what better way to present it than with the music video for ‘Perdió Este Culo’, directed by Felix Bollaín, produced by ROMA and starring Bad Gyal herself and Martiño Rivas, who play the role of a couple who have just broken up while one of the most iconic tracks plays.

“This is definitely one of my favourite tracks from ‘La Joia’. The beat has the essence of dancehall, the genre that has inspired me the most. I feel that together with MAG we have once again made a hit,” says the artist.

The studio work brings together some of the best producers in the international urban genre, who have blended the sounds of reggaeton, dancehall, afrobeat and house to guide us on a captivating journey of 15 powerful tracks. They feature big names in the music industry such as Young Miko, Tokischa, Morad, Anitta, Myke Towers, Quevedo, Ñengo Flow and Tommy Lee Sparta.

As for the visual narrative, ‘La Joia’ has sought to transfer the codes of urban aesthetics to a more contemporary level through the R&B imagery of the late 90s and early 2000s. To do so, she has relied on the unique visions of photographer Sheila Janet Pinas and stylist Alba Melendo, the latter being one of the essential pillars of Bad Gyal‘s style. The graphic design and the development of the physical pieces have been the responsibility of the JotaTeam design studio, which has previously worked for important fashion houses such as Paco Rabanne.
