BAPE x Tamagotchi: a collection inspired by 2000s nostalgia

A Bathing Ape (BAPE) has teamed up with Bandai’s classic Tamagotchi brand to launch a collaboration that combines the iconic toy with the Japanese brand’s streetwear style.

BAPE is apparently not only interested in emerging technology, but also in nostalgic technology, and has unveiled a new collaboration with Bandai’s classic virtual pet brand Tamagotchi. In this way, BAPE and Tamagotchi are teaming up to launch new Tamagotchi devices to play with your virtual pet as well as a fashion collection.

This new Tamagotchi retains the brand’s familiar portable egg-shaped design, giving players a digital pet they can feed, train and play with. This time, however, the game features the familiar Ape iconography along with the BAPE camouflage pattern on the exterior. Meanwhile, the clothing line includes three T-shirts and a hoodie.

The collection will be launched on 14 October through BAPE shops and through the Bandai Premium webshop from 15 October.

If you’re a child of the 90s, you’re in luck: the Tamagotchi is back.
