Bulgari has financed the restoration of over 90 Greek and Roman marble statues. These pieces belong to one of the most important collections of classical art in the world.
Bulgari joins the Torlonia Foundation to collaborate in the restoration of more than 90 Greek and Roman sculptures from the Torlonia Collection. This famous private collection of ancient art is one of the most important in the world and includes more than 600 works of art.
The sculptures will be the protagonists of the exhibition I marmi Torlonia. Bvlgari’s sponsorship is part of the many initiatives promoted by the Italian firm for the protection of Rome’s artistic heritage. It was in the Italian capital that the Torlonia Collection grew through acquisitions and archaeological excavations. These sculptures have been moving among the many residences available to the Torlonia family.
Bulgari’s general director, Jean-Christophe Babin, had these precious words about the sponsorship project they will carry out: “The vocation of a jeweler is to transform the gifts of nature into creations of timeless beauty. We could only enthusiastically support a project that aims to return to the public this heritage of marble sculptures shaped over the centuries by the genius of Greek and Roman artistic talent”.
Described as “an immense treasure of erudition and of art amassed in silence”, the Torlina Collection will finally see the light of day in the city of Rome. The exhibition will be available to the public from October 14, 2020 to June 29, 2021 at Villa Caffarelli.
