Allowing for infinite combinations of colours and materials, tweed is a timeless code for Maison Chanel. For the brand’s Autumn-Winter 2022/23 ready-to-wear collection, presented at a fashion show in the Ephemeral Grand Palais, clad in tweed for the occasion, the Virginie Viard jacket is a strong homage to this fabric and its landscape.
Chanel and tweed go hand in hand, so it should come as no surprise that the luxury brand presented the ultra-chic fabric in multiple colourful iterations for its Autumn/Winter 2022 collection. The fabric appeared in various vibrant shades such as fuchsia, white and red.
For her FW22 show, Chanel’s black and white tweed skirt suits were paired with candy-coloured blue tights and round silhouette bags, reminiscent of those worn in the New York upper echelons of the HBO series Gossip Girl.
The oversized bubblegum pink blazer from the latest line arrives paired with a yellow waistcoat, matching rain boots and maroon thigh-high socks, exactly something Blaire Waldorf would wear. The hue made another triumphant appearance in the form of paired with a shoulder bag.
The final looks of the FW22 line left tweed aside, opting for evening-ready silk dresses in shades of raspberry and navy with a lace torso. Leather also made an appearance in the collection in the form of mini-dresses, as well as blouses and tights, adding an avant-garde touch.
