Fendi recalls the Roaring Twenties in its FW22 collection

Fendi presented its FW22 men’s collection at Milan Fashion Week, inspired by the elegance of the Roaring Twenties.

Fendi has presented its Fall/Winter 2022 menswear collection at Milan Fashion Week. Drawing inspiration from the elegance of the Roaring Twenties era, Fendi has given this era a makeover by mixing its classics with contemporary menswear.

For the FW22 season, Fendi presented a collection with carefully curated silhouettes and colours. Traditional fabrics were combined with sartorial tailoring and archival illustrations by Antonio Lopez. “He was a big, big fashion influencer for a lot of people. He had this relationship with Karl and with Fendi, and he helped shape a lot of strong visions for women, because he loved them: that feels very authentic and current,” said Kim Jones of Lopez.

Classic satin dinner jacket piping and striped silk jacquards are amplified to give today’s man a point of timeless sophistication. Moodymann-perfect dresses with fringing and a marabou jacket are overlaid with tailored silk trousers in rose gold. In terms of footwear, Fendi has opted for two-tone O’Lock loafers and Chelsea boots and Fendi’s FF logo trainers, redefining the 1920s aesthetic.

The brand used 3D prints and digital diamond prints to create the details of the collection. Floral brooches, pearl chokers and crystal pendants were the accessories chosen for this collection that harks back to an updated past. “There was the 1920s, the 1970s and now the 2020s, these fifty-year periods. And the 1920s is when Fendi was founded, so it all becomes one thing,” Jones notes.
