Google is continuing its efforts to facilitate and protect the work of its employees in the current situation. After providing a $1,000 grant for office equipment, it has now extended teleworking until July 2021 due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
On Monday, CEO Sundas Pichai announced the following in an internal release: ‘To give employees the ability to plan ahead, we are extending our global home-based volunteer option until June 30, 2021, for positions that do not need to be in the office‘.
It is estimated that some 200,000 employees will ‘take advantage’ of this extension to date; an update that has affected companies such as @twitter, which already allows its employees to work from home indefinitely.
