IKEA is launching its first smart air purifier

IKEA reconnects design and technology to present its first smart air purifier called STARKVIND. Learn more about it.

IKEA continues to extend its infinite range of appliances that connect design with technology. The Scandinavian store presents its first STARKVIND air purifier: an appliance that comes in two smart versions to make your life easier.

“For IKEA, the smart home is not about appliances. It’s about improving life and the home by combining our strong expertise in home furnishings with digital solutions and technology,” says Henrik Telander, Product Owner at IKEA, in a statement. “Clean indoor air is an important factor for health. We know that there is no single solution to solve indoor air pollution. We are working over the long term to bring about positive change so that people can purify the air in their homes.”

STARKVIND is built for use indoors and in spaces up to 215 square meters, and can be used both from the device itself and from the IKEA Home Smart app. The purifier is equipped with five fan speeds and an automatic mode, which adjusts depending on the amount of PM2.5 particles in the air. Using a three-filter system, the device can capture everything from hair to pollen.

Both the floor-standing design and the one that serves as a side table will be available for 108 and 159 euros respectively. However, we will have to wait until October for the official launch.
