Instagram allows NFTs to be accepted as profile pictures

Instagram, the most widely used social network of the moment, will start allowing some users to display their NFTS as profile pictures.

Mark Zuckerberg has announced that Meta will start letting some users experiment with “digital collectibles” on Instagram by allowing them to display their NFT as their profile picture.

That option will soon be coming to Facebook too, along with the option to create augmented reality NFTs that can be posted to Instagram Stories via Spark AR. Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, said that for the time being no fees will be charged.

He also explained that they will start offering this option to a small group of users, after which the option will be refined and will reach more people. There are not yet many details on how the creation and trading of NFTs on these platforms will work.

“We’re starting to build for NFT, not just in our metaverse and Reality Labs work, but across all of our apps,” Zuckerberg told YouTuber Tom Bilyeu in a video posted on Facebook. “A big part of it … has to do with expression, saying something about yourself.”

Now… Why don’t you take a look at Instagram’s first magazine cover?
