Microsoft has announced the end of an era. Internet Explorer, the browser with which we spent much of our childhood and adolescence, will disappear today forever.
It was in 2020 that the company announced it would discontinue the browser as it had become “too outdated”. At the same time, it claimed that “Microsoft Edge is not only a faster, safer and more modern browsing experience than Internet Explorer, but it is also able to address a key concern: compatibility for older, legacy websites and apps”.
Internet Explorer was, for a long time, the reference browser for a whole generation, long before Mozilla’s Firefox and Google’s Chrome. Farewell!
