Junya Watanabe SS22 launches his latest collection inspired by a series of photographs taken by fashion photographer Jamie Hawkesworth during his expedition to Bhutan.
Expanding the emphasis on artwork, Watanabe presents a collection of illustrations and artwork by international artists. The result is a mix of vibrant prints that convey a sense of wanderlust.
The collection features loose, drapey silhouettes that exude a sense of comfort. Full of bright colours and prints, the capsule is highlighted by loose-fitting trousers, some of which are even bloomers.
Black striped fabrics and muted checks pervade most of the trouser designs. While some of them featured a select number of printed designs, from white and blue flowers to cultural prints in forest green and orange.
Junya Watanabe SS22 is full of blouses and T-shirts with travel-inspired designs. The brand finishes off the looks with straw hats and jackets in dark denim, leather, printed cotton with mao collars, casual cotton blazers and more.
Featured artists in the collection include Phannapast Taychamaythakool, Jacky Tsai, Rlon Wang, Ang Tsherin Sherpa, Keiichi Tanaami, Xuebing Du, Quang & Lien and Marta Olga Klara. Watanabe has also collaborated with The North Face, Levi’s, ArkAi, Dickies, Brooks Brothers and more.
