The French-Italian sportswear brand teleported us to its birthplace, Paris, during Milan Men’s Fashion Week. Recreating the iconic Café de la Paix, K-Way presented its FW23 collection.
Paris, 1965. From a table at the Café de La Paix, the first garment of the brand that revolutionised the outwear fashion universe was designed. That’s when K-Way was born. Now, at Milan Men’s Fashion Week, the French-Italian brand wanted to take us back to the same place where it all began to present its autumn/winter 2023 collection.
The iconic K-Way windbreaker was created when Leon-Claude Duhamel spotted two boys wearing red nylon mackintoshes while sitting in the Café de la Paix on a rainy day in 1965. To honour that legacy, the brand’s current owners, BasicNet, recreated the iconic Parisian café, using the Café de la Paix’s coffee tables and wicker chairs.
As soon as the show started, we went from being in Paris to a rave. K-Way presented a proposal that highlighted the multidimensional layers made through infinite overlapping jackets. The pleated effect also dominated much of the FW23 collection. Although the brand went into tailoring this season, it did not abandon its identity by combining it with XXL parkas.
K-Way presented a sustainable approach, as all the garments featured in the show were made from recycled jacquard cottons, mohair and merino wools. Through the “STORM SYSTEM” technology of Italian textile specialist Loro Piana, the FW23 collection was made from recycled nylon remnants as well as recycled down.
