Louis Vuitton celebrated Frank Gehry at Art Basel Miami

Through an exquisite collection of works that pay tribute to the architect’s long collaboration with the Maison.

Art Basel Miami Beach hosted, in this latest edition, the exclusive space that the LV team carefully designed to embody its aesthetic and experimental universe in which it plays with all kinds of shapes and perceptions. The works, made from different materials such as wood or cardboard, find their form in the scenography, while the five enveloping mesh structures in the shape of a ship’s sail recall the shop windows that Frank Gehry created for the fashion house in 2014.

The works are divided into four themes dear to the artist’s heart: architecture and form, exploration of materials, animals and his Twisted Box for Celebrating Monogram. They include bags, boots, perfume bottles, paintings, sketches and architectural models, among other unique pieces.

Louis Vuitton ‘ Frank Gehry collects a series of limited edition bags inspired by the key themes mentioned above, resulting in designs based on the iconic Capucines, the Twisted Box boot and an extraordinary Bear With Us Clutch. Each immortalises Louis Vuitton‘s savoir-faire while showcasing the artist’s impeccable craftsmanship. On the one hand, the Capucines Mini Blossom is decorated with vitreous resin petals that reimagine perfume bottles and the hammered LV logo similar to that of the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris. Another interesting option is the Capucines Floating Fish, with meticulously crafted leather marquetry inspired by the lamps on display at the foundation, while the Capucines Concrete Pockets surprises with an innovative cement-effect 3D silkscreen print adorning the calfskin exterior.

Of particular note is the boot A Tea Party For Louis, created by Frank for the exhibition “200 Trunks, 200 Visionaries” and based on Lewis Carroll‘s 1865 novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. It consists of eight portentously inventive figurines, each representing a different character from the book.

Louis Vuitton is pleased to announce that this year it has become a Global Associate Partner of the prestigious fair, strengthening its close and committed relationship with art.
