Tommy Jeans and Martine Rose’s gender-inclusive collection fuses the DNA of both brands, bringing an ironically urban twist to preppy classics.
Tommy Hilfiger presents its collaboration with British designer Martine Rose to launch the Tommy Jeans x Martine Rose Fall 2022 capsule. Born out of a mutual affinity for sportswear, the capsule is composed of modern basics that fuse street style with unique preppy details.
Putting a new spin on the aesthetic of both brands, this 35-piece gender-inclusive collection is inspired by the iconic Tommy Hilfiger archives of the 1990s, updated through the vision of Martine Rose.
This is a powerful play on colour and graphics in exaggerated proportions that bring an urban style with a unique twist. Key pieces include varsity jackets, hoodies, sweatshirts, down jackets and coats that are embellished with pop details, bold accents and diverse prints.
“Collaborating with Martine has been inspiring and has really elevated me creatively,” says Hilfiger. “I love it when a designer is able to put their own spin on our pieces from the archives. The collection is unique and sophisticated, highlighting Martine’s innovative and experimental work.”
For her part, the British designer says she has “really enjoyed exploring American subculture to create a campaign that not only celebrates, but also highlights marginalised communities”.
The campaign, shot in the Miami suburbs by renowned photographer Buck Ellison, features diverse couples in typical domestic scenes with the aim of redefining traditional American culture of the 1990s. Just as Martine Rose‘s chaps and jockstraps are striking as key products, this powerful and culturally rich campaign brings a cheeky twist while representing the diverse spirit of today’s America.
