Amidst stunning scenery, and surrounded by the Fort of Santiago da Barra and the shipyards at the mouth of the Lima River, Neopop Festival took place and we had the pleasure of attending. With a diverse and inclusive line-up, fusing big names with new talents, we tell you about our experience at one of the most anticipated events for electronic music lovers. If 2022 was amazing, 2023 will be even better.
The city that many call “the capital of techno” has lived up to its name. Its historical and architectural heritage, extraordinary gastronomy, natural landscapes, river beaches and stunning Atlantic coastline all add up to an incredible experience that has been taking place in the city of Viana do Castelo since 2005. This was our first time at one of the best techno music festivals in Europe, but surely not the last. The next edition will take place on 10, 11 and 12 August 2023.
Between 10 and 13 August, Neopop Festival gathered in this fantastic city in the Portuguese region of Minho some of the biggest names in the electronic and techno scene. Amelie Lens, Peggy Gou, Solomun were our favourites without forgetting the closing set by Loco Dice. However, we can’t not mention the shows of Honey Dijon, Richie Hawtin, Jeff Mills and many others who performed between the Neo Stage and the Anti Stage with DubLab visuals that made thousands of people dance until dawn.
Last Saturday the 15th edition of Neopop Festival reached an unprecedented milestone. The event, which every good music lover should know, gathered its largest number of attendees to date. The fantastic line-up and the stunning location in the middle of a forest made those nights unforgettable. We could say that the festival has consolidated the city’s identity as a cultural destination of the first order and reinforced Viana do Castelo’s status as the Capital of Techno.
