Opening Ceremony has just chosen its country of the year: Mexico. Since its opening in 2002, each year the brand chooses a country to show its spirit through exotic pieces and national talent. Its main objective has always been to create a space where the passion of its founders for travel, art and fashion can be fused. On this occasion, it gives us the opportunity to discover the promising Mexican talent.
Opening Ceremony collaborates with emerging Mexican artists.
We won’t deny it. The brand’s team has good taste. Among the brands they have chosen are Roberto Sánchez, WURST and Worldwide Limited. Opening Ceremony has partnered with the Hi-Bye collective, a fashion store in Mexico City that owns these brands. Thanks to this collaboration, these brands will sell for the first time outside the country.
“We are very happy to celebrate Mexico as a country of interest in Opening Ceremony this year. We have always been fascinated by its cultures, its gastronomy, its arts and its design. Especially given the current political landscape, this seems to be the perfect time to concentrate and celebrate the beauty and diversity of this country. For us, being able to provide a platform for young Mexican designers, artists and artisans is the perfect way to do it authentically.”
Finally, the stop of copying the local designer and instead collaborate with him. In this way, the retailer gets the product in a genuine and authentic way and the brand gets more visibility. A Win-win solution where both parties win.
The “Year of Mexico” collection is now available on the Opening Ceremony website.
