Menswear in Peter Do’s imaginary was only a matter of time. And that’s precisely what the entire SS23 collection, entitled “Time”, was all about. In the new collection, Do wanted to escape the rush of the industry and focus on the now. By highlighting the fundamentals of the brand, Peter Do is timeless, androgynous and avant-garde.
When Korean superstar Jeno of NCT Dream opened the show, all speculation about the collaboration with SM Entertainment has been dispelled. Do already dressed Johnny from the NCT group for the Met Gala. At that time, the partnership with Korean entertainment agency SM Entertainment would begin to take shape, which will pave the way for Asian music and fashion to find common stages for their discourse. Like Jeno, artist Seulgi of the group Red Velvet was on the front row.
Peter Do(@doxpeter) SS23 sartorial masterclass reminds us that sometimes you have to look back to move forward. Versatility and timelessness of the pieces are the key to conquer, and that is something that Do is clear in each proposal. In this new collection, more inclusive if possible, we have found pieces with open backs, belts as tails, leather pieces as pants and high-waisted coats. We also found a melee of textures: transparencies, satin and wool gave shape to garments in a rather sober color palette.
Inevitably, this SS23 from Peter Do will resonate more for his menswear debut, but there is no doubt that the designer knows how to tailor for any earthly being. Be that as it may, Peter Do has proven that he designs for people, period.
