In September, the world of fashion came to a halt when Hedi Slimane presented his first SS19 collection for Celine. Now, Hedi Slimane, the creative, artistic director and image director of the Parisian firm has published a series of images that are part of the new women’s clothing campaign Celine SS19, and which, of course, he himself has shot.
Taken by the ex-Dior Homme and the power of Saint Laurent, the series consists of four diptychs including the star of the Dazed cover and Celine Hannah Motler‘s model. There are flashes of satin, sequins, embroidery and really interesting textures. A colourful sequin bomber, designed in collaboration with Christian Marclay, can also be seen; the artist’s engravings were the burst of light in the predominantly monochromatic offer.
The summer collection is called JOURNAL NOCTURNE DE LA JEUNESSE PARISIENNE, which according to the Google translation, means “NIGHT DAILY OF THE PARISINE YOUTH”. On the catwalk he adorned his girls with bright, club-ready party dresses, skirts and oversized jackets, while his angry-faced men wrapped them in turtlenecks, raincoats, jeans and classic black sunglasses.
The complete collection will be available in Celine stores from February 2019.
