Sotheby’s is offering for sale a set of six pairs of Air Jordan sneakers worn by Michael Jordan himself during six NBA games in the 1990s.
The famous auction house Sotheby’s, which in this case is not holding an auction of the shoes but putting them on sale, has not yet revealed the official purchase price, but is estimated to raise millions of dollars.
The set called “The Dynasty Collection” includes Air Jordan 6 from 1991, Air Jordan 7 (1992), Air Jordan 8 (1993), Air Jordan 11 (1996), Air Jordan 12 (1997) and Air Jordan 14 (1998) worn by Michael Jordan in his games with the Chicago Bulls. Because of their cultural and historical relevance, these are the most valuable sneakers anyone could ever collect, even compared to “the Mona Lisa of sneaker collecting”.
The sneakers were exhibited at Sotheby’s gallery in New York and are currently on display in Dubai until March 3.
