Elon Musk’s quest for world domination expands to the high seas. SpaceX has just bought two oil rigs to convert them into launch bases for spacecraft.
Elon Musk has taken advantage of the decline of Valaris – officially declared bankrupt – to buy two of its oil rigs.
Located at SpaceX’s Brownsville, Texas, facility, the two oil rigs have been purchased for $3.5 million each. A more than suggestive figure considering Musk’s level of acquisitiveness. Each of the facilities will be repurposed as launch pads for the SpaceX spacecraft.
With an eye on the future, Elon Musk just posted on his Twitter account, “SpaceX is building floating, superheavy-class spaceports for Mars, moon & hypersonic travel around Earth.”
We can’t wait to hear about the space-like transformation these bases will take on. The future is getting closer and closer.
