Inspired by D is for Desire from McCartney’s A to Z Manifesto, Stella McCartney’s FW21 collection reflects the desire to party and the spirit of the 70s. A mix of glamour, heritage, and opulence come to define the designer‘s new codes.
With a very innovative mind, the designer surprises with each of her collections and the autumn-winter 2021 collection was not going to be less. Novel and, of course, extravagant designs make up the letter “D” of Stella’s A to Z Manifesto. A visual alphabet where “D is for Desire”, an expression of the desire and need to get out that has arisen as a result of the compulsory confinements due to the global pandemic crisis.
Forest-friendly viscose, PVC-free sequins, traceable wool from regenerative farms or vegan suede are some of the sustainable materials in the collection. If the fashion world has been trying to embrace sustainability for years, the British fashion world has been reigning supreme. And the fact is that 77% of the materials used in “D is for Desire” are sustainable and, in addition, it uses the latest vegan technology.
The play of maxi and mini volumes is a constant in the collection. Stella McCartney FW21 is full of psychedelic prints, sequins and tight-fitting dresses that invite you to dance. Also of note are the long-sleeved batwing-style dresses and oversized elephant-leg trousers. Paying homage to their roots, bomber jackets and lamb fur jackets were a must.
