Do you want to have a masterpiece on your wrist? It seems impossible but Swatch x Le Louvre makes it easy. Together, the watch brand (@swatch) and the world’s most visited museum (@museelouvre) have produced an exclusive capsule containing four watches with masterpieces from the permanent collection.
Swatch continues its long collaboration with the Louvre Museum.
Pioneer in artistic collaborations since 1985, Swatch has not only collaborated with contemporary artists, but has also launched exclusive collections in collaboration with museums. A clear example was its collaboration with the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid and, more recently, the Louvre in Paris.
This latest collection of four watches, inspired by the most admired paintings of the Parisian museum, is the result of a long collaboration between the two institutions.
Last May, Swatch and the Louvre signed an agreement to launch an exclusive watch for the 30th anniversary of the Louvre Pyramid. Two months later, in July, they released the “Liberté, Égalité, Ponctualité” watch, which humorously deflected the motto of the French Republic and paid tribute to Eugène Delacroix’s famous painting: “La liberté guidant le peuple”.
Now, four other works on display at the Louvre have inspired the Swiss watch brand: The Hijacking of Hélène, Marie de Médicis, Henri IV and the Mona Lisa.
The collection is now available on the brand’s website. Its price ranges between 75 and 80 euros. In this way, Swatch makes art more than accessible by allowing enthusiasts of watchmaking and painting.
