The new KAWS figure is the mood of 2020

Just in the pandemic year, KAWS is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its Companion figure with the launch of a commemorative doll. Under the name of Companion 2020, the doll has been designed to be displayed upside down. This new KAWS figure is the mood of 2020, for real.

Companion 2020′ comes in three colors, and will be accompanied by a small replenishment of the artist’s ‘HOLIDAY SPACE’ and ‘BFF’ figures. Just yesterday KAWS shared in its feed a publication of the doll with the following words: “2020, what a year… On the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of COMPANION I am happy to release COMPANION 2020 tomorrow at noon EST on KAWSONE.com. In true 2020 form, part of the shipment is stuck out at sea. So we will release what we have along with some HOLIDAY SPACE and BFF that just arrived, and work on releasing the rest of the pieces somewhere at a later date. Thank you for all your support over the past twenty years as I continue to figure out how to share my work directly with you!”

KAWS debuted his figure ‘Companion’ in 1999 and since then, the character has become one of the artist’s most iconic creations. In celebration of its 20th anniversary, the Brooklyn-based creative has given the Companion a new makeover. In fact, the KAWS figure has become the total mood of 2020.
