Tinder will allow you to check the background of your date

At the moment, the update will arrive by the end of the year and will be available to Americans. This upcoming feature will allow Tinder users to access information from the public records of their matches. the reason? That a 2019 investigation by ProPublica found sex offenders on Match Group’s dating platforms.

To effect this change, the owners of Tinder have teamed up with background check platform Garbo. The two will develop a new feature to be able to access the background of registered profiles through a paid service. As explained on Garbo’s website the public record information will include “reports of violence or abuse, including arrests, convictions, restraining orders, stalking and other violent crimes.” In this way, the app aims to provide a safer experience and prevent dangerous profile activity. In addition, this new feature will not only apply to Tinder, but also to other dating apps from the parent company such as BLK and OkCupid.

What do you think about this new update, would you be willing to pay for a safer date?
