Two new versions of the Bed Trunk by Louis Vuitton emerge

Designed in collaboration with Pharrell Williams and Nicolas Ghesquière.

Created for sophisticated travellers and design lovers, the Bed Trunk – also known as a trunk-bed – embodies the historic and impeccable savoir-faire of Louis Vuitton while highlighting innovation. An invention that was born in 1868 with the aim of facilitating travellers’ journeys around the world, it became an exceptional trunk-bed, which was protected by a patent filed in 1885 by Georges Vuitton.

Over the years, it has been exhibited at numerous international fairs and exhibitions, revealing its charms and secrets, winning over lovers of exploration and nomadic spirits. Now, it is reinvented by the two creative minds behind LV‘s men’s and women’s collections: Pharrell Williams and Nicolas Ghèsquiere. Together they have relaunched this icon with the classic Monogram print covering its entire exterior and a folding bed frame in aluminium and wood.

Inside is a soft mattress divided into four fully adaptable parts to ensure the highest level of comfort. A viscoelastic foam mattress cover takes over these sections, held in place by cotton straps to ensure that travellers’ belongings are kept intact during their journeys.

Proposing a futuristic journey, the designer incorporates some of his hallmarks that have marked his previous proposals for the fashion house. This is the case of the Cruise 2023 Collection, which featured engraved metal sheets and modernised corner pieces that refer to a dystopian space realm. Inside, a mattress decorated with floral motifs that pay homage to the SS18 collection in the purest romantic style.

The Virginia creative’s version is inspired by one of the Maison‘s most recognisable boot beds, which celebrates its return with new codes in the form of frayed stripes on the outside (reminiscent of the legendary 1972 print) and red and white stripes on the inside. For this special occasion, it revisits its celebrated ‘LV Lovers’ motif with embroidery on the jacquard mattress and pillow, resulting in an impeccable and unique collector’s piece.
