Versace brings out its gothic side in its latest show

Versace brings out its gothic side at its latest Milan Fashion Week show with a runway full of motomamis and emo brides.

Donatella Versace has brought out her gothic side in the latest show of the Italian house. If we already knew that the designer always has that dark touch, now she has offered us something wilder… and even darker. Versace’s gothic goddess is nothing more than an extension of a Donatella who remains young and witty.

This season, the brand has decided to turn the catwalk into a funeral, wedding, rite, or simply a gathering of empowered emo goddesses. Black, purple and touches of fuchsia run throughout the collection, which are combined in looks that reaffirm the identity of the Versace woman: diva and subversive.

From the runway it was clear to us that Barbiecore aesthetic and Motomamis are here to stay. Dresses and blouses are combined with leather pieces with bangs and studs. The multi-logo “Versace on Repeat” print and floral and zebra motifs interact and are incorporated in lace, fil coupé or metallic studded finishes. As a novelty we find the new line of Medusa Anthem shoes, with a metal XL rubber sole. All perfectly designed for the authentic Versace clubkid.

In addition, Donatella has brought us a world of brides in vibrant colors like yellow, pink and purple. And as a final touch, Paris Hilton closing the show dressed as a bride in the purest ‘Barbiecore’ style, the trend of the moment. It was a wow moment, but it was not surprising that the designer wanted to have Paris for the occasion. She is an icon of the nineties and this catwalk was perfect for her.

It was smart of Donatella to look for a younger and wittier way to express an extension of herself. A true ode to female empowerment through a Versace woman who has stepped out with her most rebellious looks and her gothic side.
